Is It a Flying Saucer? Nope, It’s Apple’s New Headquarters!

Singularity Hub had a feature on Apple’s new headquarters not too long ago. The new office looks a bit strange, almost like a flying saucer, but it is also a work of art.

I find it interesting that Apple chose not to try to use the power of eminent domain to seize the remaining apartments on the property. That might have been due to the libertarian streak in Steve Jobs, before he passed away.

Intro

What do you think about Apple’s plans for a new campus? It seems like a grand plan on the scale befitting an innovator like Apple. I do wish them the best of luck because a vibrant marketplace needs competition and a lot of healthy players.

I am curious, too, though I suspect that the employees will be giving over many of their hours and lives, and this will just make that choice a bit more palatable. ;)

Could it be the beginning of the end for Apple? Kings of times past built monuments to their greatness, only to eventually fade away.

I hope not! The mobile industry has really benefited from their innovation and high competition between them, Android, and other players. I suppose it’s possible for them to fade away if they lose the spark that made them successful, and some might argue that has already happened with the passing of Mr. Jobs.
